QuickSeatly vs WedSeatly: Which One Do You Need?
QuickSeatly and WedSeatly sound alike, and both show up when you search for a wedding seating chart. They do different jobs. QuickSeatly is a planner: you put tables on a floor plan and click each guest into a seat. WedSeatly does not seat anyone. It takes a guest list where every table is already decided and turns it into the signs you print for the day.
So the real question is not which one is better. It is whether you are still deciding who sits where, or whether that part is finished. Many couples could use both, one after the other.
QuickSeatly and WedSeatly in one minute
QuickSeatly is a browser-based floor-plan tool. Its homepage calls it a "Free Wedding Seating Chart Maker — No Signup". You add tables, add guests, then place each guest by clicking. It also covers birthdays, corporate dinners and other events with assigned seating.
WedSeatly starts where that work ends. You bring a list with a Guest Name and a Table for every person, from Excel, a CSV file or a paste. WedSeatly formats it into a print-ready seating chart for the easel, an alphabetical guest finder and table-by-table lists. They are different products from different makers, with similar names.
What QuickSeatly does well
Going by its own site (checked 23 October 2026), QuickSeatly has real strengths for the planning stage:
- Free, with no account. It says it is "completely free, supported by advertising. No account, no hidden charges, no watermarks."
- Click-to-seat planning. Its instructions read: "Click a guest name — it turns blue. Then click any empty seat on the floor plan to place them." Click a filled seat to unassign someone.
- Table shapes and room items. You can choose round, square, oval or long tables, and add a dance floor, DJ or band, bar, cake, stage or photo booth to the plan.
- Quick guest entry. Its bulk import asks you to paste one name per line.
- Private by default. It says your plan "stays in your browser's local storage only", and its Save Progress button saves to that browser.
- Print when done. An Export PDF button lets you print the plan or save it as a PDF from your browser.
If you are still moving people around, a visual planner like this is a sensible place to work. WedSeatly does not do that job at all.
What WedSeatly does instead
WedSeatly is for the moment the decisions are made and you need the chart at the door. The steps are:
- Upload a .csv or .xlsx file, or paste the rows. Guest Name and Table are required. Meal choice and dietary notes are optional.
- Columns are read from their headings, so "Guest Name" or "Name" and "Table" or "Seat" are picked up without remapping.
- Duplicate names are flagged, and a guest with no table has to be fixed before you can continue.
- Choose a style and a size, then check a watermarked preview free, with no account.
You assign every table yourself. WedSeatly does not move guests, balance tables or draw the room. The £4.99 one-off pack gives you the main seating chart, an alphabetical guest finder and table lists for ushers and the venue.

Which one should you use?
Ask one question: have you decided where everyone sits?
- Not yet, and you want to see the room: use a planner such as QuickSeatly. Clicking people into seats is the job it is built for.
- Yes, and the plan lives in a spreadsheet: use WedSeatly. Upload the file and preview the chart. If your plan is already in Excel, turn your Excel table plan into a seating chart covers the steps.
- Both: plan the seats in your planner, then type each guest's name and table into the free seating chart template and upload it to WedSeatly.
